| My eyes were closed as I buried my face into my pillow, shifting my knees up close to me. There were some photographs littering the already dirty floor. Most of them were of an old woman, dates on the back indicating that the pictures were taken ten years ago. My cellphone lay a couple feet from me. The music was turned up so loud, that I couldn't hear anything but it and my own heartbeat.
"Fucking b...bitch... She was supposed to have t...twenty...more years on her..."

| I looked at her a bit worried and noticed that with this loud music and her cries that she couldn't hear me....so I walked to her bed and sit myself heavilly to her side... she bounced a little with the balance of our weights... and then I looked down at her my hand slid on her back...caressing it slowly...

| I tried to fight back any more tears, feeling completely and utterly exposed in this rare moment of vulnerability... I let my eyes fall closed, and sighed, heavily, into his shirt. I had been close with my grandmother; she would always send me nice clothes, and I always would dig through birthday presents as a child to pick the one out I got from her... She was there for me when I needed her, when I had to give up my cat when I moved...

| I immediately went quiter as his words seemed to echo off the hollow walls of my room... I buried my muzzle deep into his shoulder, as I tried to get my breathing back to normal... My ears were pinned back as my tail wrapped itself around him.

| I took the glass, tipping it back slightly into my mouth. I sighed into the glass as I swallowed, closing my eyes. The cool water felt soothing running down my irritated throat. I squinted one eye shut as I pulled a flake of ash off the rim of the glass.
"...I don't remember asking for anything extra in my water, but thanks for your generosity..."
I laughed, hoarsely, as I set the cup down, sitting back on my ass in a pretzel-legged position. The room felt dank and uncomfortable, and, despite the hot air blowing in from the vents, I pulled my nightshirt tightly around me, and surpressed a shiver. | |

I smiled as his warm limbs draped around me... I leaned my cheek against his knee as I wiped the other side of my face dry with the sleeve of my shirt. I wished silently that he could stay with me, always. The way he smelled always calmed me down... Though it was hard to say how old smoke and beer could be soothing, it was still nice.
